hi all,
i know i can turn on the 'learn new words' option - but in the past this has caused me problems with SKP learning silly words.
after using swype for a while, i think it would be a good if you could select a new word and manually add it to the dict ?
cheers
dan
is it possible to 'force' a new word to the user dictionary?

You can long press the word in the prediction bar to add it

hi Cyril
cool thanks. is that with learn turned off?
I'm trying out the compact mode as now used to
portrait more. so how do you do it then as if it doesn't
recognise a new word you type in the bar so can't be
selected ?

Re: is it possible to 'force' a new word to the user diction
hi Cyril,
ive just attempted this again today and im not sure it can be done in compact mode :/
entering a new word it doesnt know - you have to enter it letter by letter to be accepted - so no option to add it
i have to go into custom words and manually add a map for my new word
cheers

I'm not sure what you are doing exactly. When you disable T9/XT9 to enter a word manually, the word still appears in the prediction so you can long press it.

hi Cyril
it probably is user error as I'm new to compact mode
if I disable xt9 it doesn't guess the letters correctly.
example, chillin becomes cgullub
not the beat example but all I could think of on the spot.
generally compact is very good at known word guessing I find.
cheers

Re: is it possible to 'force' a new word to the user diction
if you disable prediction, you have to multitap to enter the correct letters, the keyboard cannot guess them for you (it can guess only when the word is in the dictionary, but you are precisely trying to enter a word which is not in the dictionary)

doh! silly me. so long since i've used multi tap
totally didn't think about that
thanks Cyril
